EU eLearning Conference 2006

The 15th Annual EDEN Conference took place in Vienna less than three weeks before the Conference in Espoo. The two conferences are linked in many ways as the EU presidency is moving from Austria to Finland. One of the workshops at EDEN was dedicated to giving an insight into the preparations of the forthcoming EU eLearning Conference organised by the European Commission DG Education and Culture, DG Information Society and Media, in collaboration with the Lifelong Learning Institute Dipoli at Helsinki University of Technology and the Ministry of Education, Finland.

This year will be the final year for various EU education programmes, such as Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci and eLearning. Several important parts of the eLearning programme will find continuation in the new Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013). The conference in Espoo will mark the shift from a separate eLearning programme to a more integrated approach of ICT supported lifelong learning. The shift was introduced and discussed during the workshop at EDEN2006 and the discussion will continue in Espoo during the three Learning Café sessions that will contribute to the Commission's communication on the use of ICT to support innovation and lifelong learning. The communication will be adopted later this year.

Join the discussion at the Conference either on site or online.
